Speaking At High Point Market

The New Luxury: Designing for Daily Wellness
High Point has always held a special place in my design journey. I went to school in High Point, studied interior design there, and was first introduced to the furniture and design industry through that world. So, to return to Market not just as an attendee, but as a panelist representing Miele, felt like such a meaningful milestone.
The panel, “The New Luxury: Designing for Daily Wellness,” focused on the evolving definition of luxury and how wellness is becoming a more intentional part of the design conversation. Luxury is often associated with beautiful materials, expensive finishes, and high-end products, but the conversation went much deeper than that. We spoke about how true luxury is not just about how something looks. It is about how it supports your life, your routines, your comfort, and your overall well-being.
There are certain career moments that feel both surreal and full circle, and speaking on a panel at High Point Market was definitely one of them.
One of the biggest themes we discussed was the idea that wellness in design does not have to feel clinical or complicated. It can be woven into the home through the everyday details. It can be found in a kitchen that makes cooking feel easier, a laundry space that supports a busy household, or appliances that simplify daily tasks instead of adding more stress. From a design perspective, wellness is about creating spaces that work with people, not against them.
Representing Miele on this panel gave me the opportunity to speak from both sides of my experience. I started my career in interior design, where I learned to think about how people live, move, gather, and feel in a space. Now, working in the luxury appliance industry, I get to see how products can play a major role in enhancing the way people experience their homes. Those two worlds overlap more than people may realize. Design is not just about the finished room. It is about the way every element in that room supports daily life.
We also talked about how the meaning of luxury is changing. Today, luxury is not just about having the most expensive or impressive thing in the room. It is about ease. It is about quality. It is about thoughtful details that make everyday moments feel better. A luxury home should not only be beautiful to look at; it should also make life feel more seamless, more enjoyable, and more aligned with the people living in it.
Being part of this conversation was such a reminder of why I love this industry. Design has the ability to influence how people feel, how they function, and how they connect with their homes. Whether it is through a floor plan, a finish selection, a piece of furniture, or an appliance, every decision has the opportunity to make someone’s life feel a little more intentional.
Speaking at High Point Market on behalf of Miele was an honor, but it was also a moment of reflection. It reminded me of where I started, how much I have learned, and how many different directions a design career can take. What began as a passion for interiors has grown into a much larger understanding of how design, wellness, lifestyle, and innovation all work together.
I left the panel feeling inspired, grateful, and excited for the future of design. The conversation around luxury is expanding, and I am so glad to be part of it.
